Gorgeous! My favorite bird! What an excellent close up you got!
That is a magical pair of photos. So often we only GET the second one. It was ... I saw it ;~) Once I stepped onto the verandah and saw a blur as a heron flew away from our pond.
What a beautiful heron! And your photos are perfect. The heron is one of my favorite birds. They have an elegance and beauty that is hard to match.

Thanks all! This is a bird that almost demands to have it's picture taken- and with all the spring blossoms and new shoots, how could I resist?
